Whole Oceans to build one of the largest land-based aquaculture systems

Whole Oceans has announced that it will build one of the largest land-based recirculating aquaculture systems in the world. The planned land-based Atlantic salmon farm is set to be built in Bucksport, Maine (USA).

Whole Oceans will shortly work on 30 approx of the more than 100 acres of land along the Penobscot River. The company will continue to design work on another section. In addition, a regional company to clean up and grade the site has set an agreement.

"I am looking forward to being in Bucksport, managing the initial site work, and seeing this project move forward. The Bucksport community has been tremendously supportive of our efforts to date. I share their enthusiasm for seeing site work get underway," project manager Mike Thompson, said.
