New four appointments to research and develop the Alaska seafood industry

The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) has created four positions that will allow the organization to continue providing unique services related to research and development in the Alaska seafood industry.

Thereby, Hannah Wilson has served as the Development Director since April, and Julie Cisco will serve as the Executive Administrator. In addition, the foundation welcomes two Alaska Sea Grant Fellows: Ben Americus, Science Policy Coordinator, and Robin McKnight, Mariculture Development Coordinator.

Before, Wilson worked as an Alaska Sea Grant Mariculture Fellow with Alaska Sea Grant and NOAA Fisheries. She also assisted with procuring funding for industry. Besides, she research efforts and worked closely with mariculture stakeholders on projects supporting farmers during COVID-19.

In more detail, the Development Director will focus on the management of seafood sustainability certifications for salmon and cod. Also, on coordination and outreach with AFDF membership, and collaboration with the mariculture industry.

Regarding this, Wilson said: "AFDF is a leader in building community resilience. Through an impressive portfolio of projects that directly benefit Alaskans. I am excited to join AFDF's team in this valuable work."

On the other side, Cisco has experience in both the harvesting and processing sides of the Alaska seafood industry throughout the state. Moreover, her responsibilities will include support for the Executive Director as well as providing administrative services to AFDF's partner organization, Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers. Finally, Cisco will also be taking over the organization of the Alaska Symphony of Seafood event.
