The president, Gabriel Boric Font, has named Soledad Tapia Almonacid as the new national director of the National Fishing and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca), following the completion of the Public High Management contest. With 14 years of experience at the institution, Soledad is a seasoned professional in the field.
Soledad expressed her pride in taking on this new professional challenge in her career, stating, "I receive this appointment with great emotion and enthusiasm. I thank the president for his confidence in me and the recognition of my merit in having 14 years of service and work with the artisanal sector and industry."
"It is an honor to be chosen and I feel supported by the fishing institution, the Sernapesca management team, and by officials, which certainly motivates me to quickly take action. I am interested in emphasizing people, good working climates, and promoting internal leaderships", said the new National Director. Moreover, Soledad Tapia added: "As a woman, I also want to contribute to the gender policy in our institution."
Previously serving as the Regional Director of Sernapesca Valparaíso, Soledad Tapia Almonacid was the first woman to be appointed as a Regional Director in 2009, taking on various management positions including Subdirector of Fisheries, Head of the People Department, Director of the School of Regulation, and Regional Director of Valparaíso once again in 2019.
