AKVA group has formalized a contract worth NOK 200 million (approximately €17.4 million) with Årdal Aqua AS for the design and delivery of a RAS smolt facility in Årdal, Rogaland, Norway.
According to the aquaculture technology supplier, the facility will have a production capacity of 6 million smolt per year, each weighing 100 grams, and the initial construction activities are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026.
As early as 2024, Årdal Aqua AS announced that it had selected AKVA group ASA to complete its post-smolt facility in Årdal, following the bankruptcy of the previous contractor, Billund Aquaculture.
Årdal Aqua, located in Årdal, municipality of Hjelmeland, is owned by Omfar AS, Grieg Seafood Rogaland AS, and Vest Havbruk AS. The company has a long-term plan to expand the facility, aiming to reach an annual production capacity of 15,000 tonnes across ten production halls by 2030.
The latest results of AKVA group ASA for the fourth quarter of 2025 showed an increase in revenue to NOK 1,113 million (€99 million), a 41% rise compared with NOK 792 million recorded in the same period the previous year.
