Andfjord Salmon completes pool pit excavation before deadline

Andfjord Salmon has confirmed that the excavation of the next 12 pool pits at Kvalnes, Andøya, has been completed one quarter ahead of schedule.

The company already announced in November that the construction of its salmon farming facility at Kvalnes in Andøya was progressing ahead of schedule.

Andfjord Salmon plans to increase its production capacity to 8,000 tonnes and develop major shared infrastructure such as waterways and a port area to support its long-term goal of a 40,000-tonne total production capacity at Kvalnes by 2030.

Martin Rasmussen, CEO of Andfjord Salmon, said: "This is a highly encouraging start that de-risks the build-out considerably by creating flexibility for the technical work streams that are ahead of us."

The two rows of pools excavated will house six pools each – twelve in total – equal to a total production capacity of 19,000 tonnes of HOG. A total of four concrete pools will be completed in the first build-out phase.

"We have planned to initiate concrete works on the pools during the first quarter, which is ahead of schedule," Rasmussen added.

According to a statement released by the company today, "the other two ongoing workstreams, the harbor area and waterways, are also progressing well."
