BioMar UK names new Managing Director

Feed producer BioMar has announced the appointment of Donald McDonald as the new managing director of BioMar UK, with the company confirming he will join the business in early September.

MacDonald brings broad experience in commercial leadership, customer relationships, food manufacturing and aquaculture, and is currently operations director at Aberdeen family-owned food ingredients company Macphie.

His previous roles include work at Bakkavor Group, where he led the firm's commercial partnership with retailer Marks & Spencer, overseeing commercial and supply chain processes. He has also held senior positions at the Scottish Salmon Company, now part of Bakkafrost, and Marine Harvest.

BioMar said MacDonald’s background in aquaculture and food production would support its work with customers in Scotland.

“Donald’s customer-centric approach and hands-on leadership make him an excellent choice to lead BioMar UK," said Dr Patrick Campbell, BioMar’s vice-president of salmon division.

"His appointment marks an exciting new chapter as we further strengthen our customer partnerships and support aquaculture growth in Scotland,” Campbell added.
