Bue Salmon and Bolaks Group have signed an agreement through which Bue ensures a stable supply of smolt, while Bolaks receives robust post-smolt in return.

The agreement includes a 3-year term during which Bue Salmon will receive smolt from Sævareid Fiskeanlegg, where Bolaks is the majority shareholder.

In other words, the smolt will be transported to Bue Salmon's land-based salmon farm in Bulandet before being delivered to Bolaks' sea sites. This process ensures a predictable and efficient production and distribution chain.

According to Bue Salmon CEO Knut Eikeland, "This partnership not only secures predictability and profitability but also establishes close cooperation with one of the country’s leading aquaculture environments. We share a strong focus on fish welfare and look forward to learning from each other."

Moreover, the CEO of Bolaks, Karina Antonsen Hjelle, added: "By combining our expertise in smolt production and sea-based farming with Bue Salmon's specialization in post-smolt and land-based production, we have a unique opportunity to explore the synergies between land and sea."

Benefits for All

In this way, Bue Salmon can rely on financial resources and time to advance development plans at Lutelandet. Additionally, Bolaks will reduce production time at sea, benefiting its operations in Bjørnafjorden.

In December, Bue Salmon was granted a license to produce 50,000 tons of salmon at its planned new land-based facility in Lutelandet, Vestland County. The first construction phase is currently planned with a production capacity of 12,600 tons.
