Grieg Seafood has announced it has appointed a new Chief Financial Officer, with Magnus Johannesen stepping into the role from 5 February.
Johannesen, who joined the company as Global Finance Officer in October 2024, is now promoted to replace the outgoing financial chief, Atle Harald Sandtorv, who has decided to step down after holding the position of CFO at Grieg Seafood since 2009.
“Magnus has shown a strategic mindset and analytical skills that makes me confident he will be a great contributor to the continued development of Grieg Seafood,” said CEO Andreas Kvame, in a press release announcing the appointment.
Johannesen joined Grieg Seafood only a few months ago as Global Finance Officer, having previously worked as Chief Investment Officer for Frydenbø Group. Announcing the appointment last August, Grieg Seafood said his job would be to "further develop our finance group and support the CFO in financial and business decision-making".
Johannesen was also previously interim CFO in the investment company Rexir Holding, and specialist consultant and external advisor at McKinsey & Company, where he guided financial institutions on internal audit and global-scale risk management. He has an educational background in business and finance, holding an MSc in business administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) which included specialisation in auditing and accounting, Grieg Seafood noted in its announcement.
The company praised Santorv for his long service in the company, and indicated the outgoing CFO would continue "to support the new transition gong forward", through mutual agreement.
“Atle Harald has played an instrumental role in the shaping of Grieg Seafood for more than 15 years, having secured the financing and capital structure enabling our growth and development over this period. I want to thank Atle Harald for his leadership and commitment over many years,” Andreas Kvame said.
