Iceland's Haf Investments acquires aquaculture water treatment specialist NP Innovation

Haf Investments, an Icelandic private equity fund specializing in the seafood sector, has become the majoriy owner of NP Innovation, an international developer and producer of water treatment products for aquaculture, headquartered in Malmö, Sweden.

“This marks a significant milestone for NP and a natural next step in our growth journey,” said Michael Bäärnhielm, CEO of NP Innovation, in a press release announcing the deal.

“With Haf as our new majority owner, we will further strengthen our presence in key markets, continue delivering innovative solutions to our customers, and drive expansion through strategic growth initiatives," he added.

NP Innovation currently has production facilities in Sweden, an expanded service organization in Iceland, in addition to offices in Sweden and Norway.​

The company was founded by Nils-Åke Persson in 2011, and specializes in micro-particle separation and water treatment technologies, with 90% of its sales focused on aquaculture. According to the company, it achieved sales of approximately SEK 180 million (EUR 15.9m / USD 16.9m) in 2024.
