Joachim Wessel, new Cermaq Managing Director in Chile

Pedro Courard, the current Managing Director, will be the new Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Sapphire.

Cermaq Chile has appointed Joachim Wessel as its new Managing Director. He is succeeding Pedro Courard who will step down from his role on the 1st of June and is starting a new position as Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Sapphire.

Currently, Wessel is the Commercial and Supply Chain Director at Cermaq Chile. He joined the company in 2020 and has extensive experience in the salmon industry. Before this, he worked for Mowi and AquaChile, and was the CEO of the salmon company Friosur.

Regarding his appointment, the new Managing Director said: "I am delighted to accept the challenge of being MD in Chile. We have a lot of good professionals and a good company culture in Cermaq, and my task will be to have the best teamwork and continued good results going forward."

CEO Steven Rafferty noted: "We are lucky to have an experienced professional like Joachim. He is well respected internally in Cermaq as well as externally in the Chilean industry. I have no doubt he will be an excellent leader of Cermaq Chile."

On the other hand, Courard expressed: "I have mixed feelings, as Cermaq will always remain a special company to me. Joining Atlantic Sapphire in the USA is a big personal challenge. I feel motivated to accept."

Just a few days ago, Gunnar Aasbo-Skinderhaug, formerly of Cermaq Norway, was appointed the new CFO of Atlantic Sapphire.
