New Chief Commercial Officer announced for AKVA Group

Ståle Økland, formerly Group Director of Communications and ESG at AKVA, has been promoted to the newly-created role.

Norwegian aquaculture supplier AKVA Group has a new Chief Commercial Officer, with the appointment of Ståle Økland, until now AKVA's Group Director of Communications and ESG.

According to a press release from the company, the newly-created role will focus on further development of AKVA's strategy and commercial approach, with Økland also "responsible for leading the strategic marketing work". AKVA said that in addition to his new responsibilities, Økland will "retain responsibility for communications and ESG".

Økland joined AKVA Group in 2021, and has a career spanning more than two decades in marketing, communications and politics. He was previously deputy mayor of Time municipality, senior advisor to the Conservative Party in the Norwegian Parliament, and speechwriter for former Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

"We see great opportunities for AKVA group going forward, and we will strengthen marketing efforts across business areas and countries. This requires a comprehensive solution and a strong strategic focus. Ståle will lead this work and will be an important spokesperson for the company's commercial vision," said CEO of AKVA group, Knut Nesse.
