Nordic Aqua Partners has completed its first harvest of Atlantic salmon, produced at its facility in Gaotang, China. The AKVA group has been the technology supplier during the whole process.

The Norwegian company confirmed through its LinkedIn profile that is now ready to offer its "first-class" Atlantic salmon under the 'Nordic PureAtlantic' brand to the expansive Chinese market.

In more detail, CEO Ragnar Joensen indicated all the processing details: "Our first harvest confirms the high quality of our farmed Atlantic Salmon, achieving an average weight of approximately 5.7 kilograms LW, with mortality rates of below 2%, no signs of maturation issues and a superior rate of 99%."

"These excellent biological results underscore Nordic Aqua's capability to maintain superior fish health and welfare standards, which translates into premium product quality for the highly attractive Chinese consumer market," he added.

In addition, COO of AKVA group Land Based, Johan Fredrik Gjesdal commented on the satisfaction behind this fact: "This marks a new milestone in this pioneering story. I would like to thank Nordic Aqua who gives us the opportunity to be a trusted partner and all our employees in the AKVA group who have contributed. We look forward to the further development of this project."

Nordic Aqua had to delay this first salmon harvest due to some adjustments to water circulation systems. It expected its first commercial harvest to arrive in March. The company is committed to reaching its projected harvest volume of 3,400 tons by 2024.
