Norwegian aquaculture and fisheries supplier Tempia AS has named Erik Mäkitaavola as its new Managing Director, with co-founder Mathias Ingebrigtsen moving into a newly created Chief Commercial Officer role.
The leadership change comes after a period of rapid growth for the company, which reported NOK 91 million in revenue in 2025, up 25% year-on-year and more than double its 2023 level.
Mäkitaavola joins Tempia from Lerøy Norway Seafood’s Lofoten facility, where he served as plant operations manager. His earlier roles include senior operational positions at Insula’s Lofoten production site, as well as plant management and technical leadership posts at REC Wafer Norway and REC Solar.
Headquartered in Svolvær in Nordland County, Norway, Tempia supplies refrigeration, freezing, heating and ice-making systems to fishing vessels, aquaculture companies and land-based food producers. The company focuses on systems using natural refrigerants, including CO2 and ammonia.
“Tempia has demonstrated impressive development in recent years,” Mäkitaavola said, adding that he looked forward to contributing experience from “efficient production facilities”.
Ingebrigtsen said rising demand in Norway and international markets had made it necessary to expand management capacity. In his new role, he will focus more closely on existing and prospective customers.
Seafood investment firm Bluefront Equity is the company’s largest shareholder, with Tempia part of their portfolio since 2022.
