"Egget 2025 represents 10 years of development and learning," said CEO Cato Lyngøy.

The technology developer of Egget®, Ovum, formerly known as Hauge Aqua Solutions, has confirmed the launch of new commercial models designed for production volumes of up to 20,000 m³.
This Norwegian aquaculture technology company has the primary mission of designing and manufacturing closed floating systems for salmon farming — known as Egget® or 'The Egg' — characterized by their distinctive egg shape.
The new Eggs are optimized for profitability and comply with the latest regulations for zero-emission floating technologies. According to a recent statement from Ovum, the expected return on investment is within 2 to 3 years in post-smolt production.
"Egget 2025 represents 10 years of development and learning. The performance of the fish has pushed us forward — now we are proud to present this new and improved design, especially the way we will harvest the fish," said CEO Cato Lyngøy.
In the past, this project has encountered obstacles along the way, such as the interruption of the implementation of the environmental technology scheme.
In this regard, representatives of the Norwegian Seafood Federation (Sjømat Norge) called for the “urgent” implementation of an environmental flexibility scheme.
"We find that many fish farmers are interested in ‘The Egg’, but they are waiting for clarification on the environmental flexibility scheme. Such a scheme would be the fastest route to improved fish health and reduced environmental impact in many locations. We, along with other suppliers working on low-emission technology, need a prompt response from the Minister of Fisheries," assured Lyngøy.
Precisely last week, the Norwegian government introduced the “environmental flexibility” scheme for the aquaculture industry, whereby producers who invest in closed fish farming technology will be able to regain production capacity lost under Norway’s “traffic light” permit system.
