Aquaculture industry supplier Pelagia has announced the signing of an agreement to deliver a complete sludge solution, covering the entire value chain—from collection at sea to dewatering, interim storage, and logistics—to a "major player in the industry."

The agreement, expected to be operational by autumn 2025, has been made through Pelagia Blue Ocean. Pelagia became the majority owner of Blue Ocean Technology through a share issue in February 2024. Four months later, it acquired 100% ownership of this fish sludge treatment specialist.

During the presentation of Blue Ocean, CEO Magne Haugstad said the new department will be a strong professional environment where they can build on shared expertise and technology: "This gives us a better basis for developing more efficient and profitable solutions, customised to our customers' needs along the entire value chain."

Additionally, the collection will be carried out using Fjord Solutions technology, which was recently acquired to continue working on the development of sustainable sludge solutions.

"The goal, after becoming part of Pelagia, has been to offer a comprehensive solution that covers the entire process, from collection, processing, and storage to efficient logistics and resource utilization of sludge. This agreement is an important step toward becoming a fully integrated player in sludge management within aquaculture," assured Knut Antonsen, head of Pelagia Blue Ocean.
