SalMar has appointed Anders Fjellheim as its new Chief Operating Officer of Biology, the Norwegian salmon farming company has announced.
The change in personnel follows the resignation of former COO Biology, Roger Bekken.
Since 2022, Fjellheim was previously Managing Director of SalMar's offshore farming venture SalMar Ocean - renamed from SalMar Aker Ocean following SalMar's buy-out of Aker for NOK 650 million in March.
Prior to this, he spent four years as COO at Norwegian salmon egg supply firm AquaGen, having previously worked for seven years at Mowi (then Marine Harvest) as a regional manager and biological controller.
"Anders has a PhD in aquaculture and brings with him a strong experience and background from the aquaculture industry across the value chain both from genetics, smolt, coastal farming and offshore farming," SalMar stated, announcing the appointment in its report for the first quarter of 2025.
The Norwegian salmon company has reported a weak financial performance during Q1, and a challenging start to the year with a low harvest volume. However, the company said that good biological performance at sea during the first quarter means it will enter Q2 with a record biomass for the season.
