BioMar has launched its new POWER H2O formulation, specifically designed to meet the demands of underwater feeding systems, such as prolonged pellet immersion, increased hydrostatic pressure, and varying environmental conditions at depth.
This new product, part of BioMar's POWER range, was presented during the 3-day trade fair Aqua Nor 2025, currently taking place in Trondheim, Norway. Now in its fifth decade, Aqua Nor has grown into the world's largest aquaculture technology event.
According to BioMar, salmon farmers are increasingly turning to underwater feeding systems, as they help reduce noise, microplastics, energy consumption, and exposure to sea lice. However, this method can damage the pellets and lead to nutrient loss before consumption.
"The use of waterborne feeding systems introduces a new set of challenges, and it requires a feed built for this farming reality. POWER H2O combines robust pellet durability with excellent digestibility and minimal nutrient loss, making it the ideal feed for salmon farmers adopting these systems," explained Ewan Cameron, Product Manager, Salmon Grower Feeds at BioMar.
Additionally, Paddy Campbell, VP Salmon at BioMar Group, noted: "With POWER H2O, we’ve focused on safeguarding feed pellet quality throughout the feeding delivery process. It represents a change that can have a big impact."
BioMar is already offering this product in the Norwegian market and plans to expand it soon to other regions and product ranges within aquatic feed.
