The Norwegian copepod producer for marine larvae CFEED has announced the expansion of its production facility in Vanvikan, Norway which is set to open on August 20, 2025.
This project, which will enhance the capacity and efficiency of operations, will position CFEED as the world’s leading copepod production facility. It will also create new employment opportunities for the local community.
Furthermore, it will assist the Norwegian company in its efforts to remain the top global producer of hatchery-stage feed for marine fish larvae.
"This project strengthens our presence in the aquaculture market and ensures a sustainable, cutting-edge production facility that can scale efficiently. As part of its long-term vision, CFEED is reinforcing its position as a global leader in sustainable aquafeed solutions," said Tore Remman, CEO of CFEED.
Additionally, Sales & Marketing Director Linn Baardsgaard noted: "At CFEED, we are privileged to have the trust of our customers, who rely on our product and expertise. They recognize our continuous efforts in research and development to enhance our product quality and services. This expansion allows us to scale up production while exploring new markets to better serve our growing customer base."
In March 2016, CFEED started operating its production facility in Vanvikan, Norway, which became the world's first large-scale copepod production facility.
The company specializes in hatchery-stage live feed, producing Acartia tonsa copepods for over 15 species, including sea bream, cod, grouper, seriola, seabass, tuna, and more.
In 2023, Kaltroco Ltd. completed the acquisition of shares from SINTEF Venture IV and other shareholders in order to fund the development of CFEED. The goal of this transaction was to significantly increase the feed company's revenue, production, and global expansion in the coming years.
