Innovafeed
French insect protein producer Innovafeed has partnered with Agryco, which specializes in fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural supplies sale, to commercialize the natural, high-performance organic fertilizer Hilucia™ 'Frass for plants'.
For its part, Innovafeed brings its expertise in producing sustainable ingredients from insect breeding, while Agryco offers a platform for accessing high-performance natural inputs.
Hilucia™ Frass is derived from the organic residue of insect breeding and provides organic matter, nitrogen, and other essential nutrients for crops. It also reduces the environmental footprint, making it a highly sustainable alternative to traditional fertilizers.
Regarding this new solution, Clément Ray, CEO and co-founder of Innovafeed said: "Our Hilucia™ Frass perfectly embodies our vision of an agricultural model that respects the environment, adding value to co-products from the circular economy to offer farmers a natural, high-performance alternative."
In 2024, Innovafeed's Nesle production site in northern France became the largest insect production site in the world. The Phase 3 development at Innovafeed's Nesle facility was made possible by the company's record-breaking Series D funding round in 2022, which raised €250 million.
Innovafeed produces ingredients with a lower carbon footprint - claiming a reduction of 80% in comparison to other companies without industrial symbiosis - and also reduces carbon emissions across the value chain.
Therefore, it aims to contribute to the greater sustainability of the industry in France through synergy between different industries to reduce economic and environmental costs.
The company has been a certified B Corp since 2022 and was selected in 2024 as one of the 40 future impact unicorns by France's IMPACT40 index.
