AKVA group ASA has confirmed that the contract awarded in October 2024 by Cermaq Chile related to a new RAS smolt facility in the Los Lagos Region has been signed. The value of the contract amounts to 30 million euros.
AKVA Group Chile's Infrastructure division offers the latest generation of cages for salmonid farming. With the help of AquaSim software, they design 50x50 metal structures to simulate and analyze the impact of waves, currents, and wind to ensure maximum safety and strength.
Furthermore, the Group announced almost a year ago a partnership with Inseanergy to achieve the electrification of the Chilean aquaculture industry. Therefore, Chile's solar energy potential will be used for fish farming operations.
"Chile's solar energy potential is particularly promising for the aquaculture industry, and we are excited to explore this further," said Christian Gerardo Schäfer Oyanedel, General Manager at AKVA group Chile.
In one of its latest published reports (Q2 2024), AKVA reported strong financial results, highlighted by record-high quarterly revenue and significant improvements in profitability.
The company delivered a revenue of NOK 1,014 million (EUR 83.33m / USD 93.45m), an 8% increase from the same period last year, reflecting continued growth despite challenges in certain market segments.
