Bluefin tuna producer Baja Aqua-Farms (BAF) has acquired Baja Marine Foods (BMF), a leading company based in Baja California, Mexico, specializing in the production of high-quality fishmeal, fish oil, and frozen seafood.

BMF was founded in 2010 and owns two fishing vessels and a processing plant with the capacity to handle up to 450 tons of protein per day. Its products are sourced sustainably and are sold both for human consumption and as ingredients for the aquaculture and pet food industries.

With this move, Baja Aqua-Farms becomes the leading vertically integrated bluefin tuna producer in the Americas. The acquisition also marks the company’s entry into the high-growth marine ingredients sector.

"We look forward to welcoming the Baja Marine Foods' team as they join the Baja Aqua-Farms' family in this exciting new chapter. This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver the highest quality bluefin tuna to our customers around the world in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner," said Chief Executive Officer of BAF, Manuel Vazquez.
