Bakkafrost reports 29,900 tonnes salmon harvest in Q2

The Faroe Islands-based company will publish its full Q2 2026 financial results on 31 August 2026.

Bakkafrost has reported its second-quarter 2026 harvest figures in its latest trading update, with total harvest volumes reaching 29,900 tonnes (HOG) of salmon.

Of the total, 26,700 tonnes were harvested in the Faroe Islands, while 3,200 tonnes came from the company's Scottish operations. On a year-to-date basis, harvest volumes amounted to 51,900 tonnes in the Faroe Islands and 9,400 tonnes in Scotland.

In its freshwater operations, the company released 5.6 million smolts in the Faroe Islands and 3.9 million smolts in Scotland during the quarter. On a year-to-date basis, smolt releases totalled 9.5 million in the Faroe Islands and 4.9 million in Scotland.

Additionally, the salmon farming company confirmed that it did not record any extraordinary mortality costs in its farming operations in the Faroe Islands.

In contrast, extraordinary mortality costs in Scotland amounted to approximately €4.3 million during the quarter (equivalent to DKK 32 million). No extraordinary mortality costs were recorded in the company's freshwater operations in either the Faroe Islands or Scotland.

In its fishmeal, fish oil and feed (FOF) segment, Bakkafrost processed 109,700 tonnes of marine raw materials during the second quarter and sold 37,400 tonnes of fish feed, while fishmeal and fish oil sales were close to zero.

In April, Bakkafrost announced that it had achieved 100% ASC certification across all of its salmon farming operations, following the certification of its 31 active farming sites in Scotland.
