Norway's Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) firm Pure Salmon Technology announced it has acquired all intellectual property (IP) assets of Billund Aquaculture Denmark. With this strategic acquisition, the Norwegian company expects to achieve new growth opportunities for the Group.
According to Pure Salmon Technology, the addition of these assets will enhance its capabilities to offer innovative and sustainable aquaculture solutions and strengthen its competitive advantage in key markets worldwide. For this second objective, the company has also secured exclusive rights to purchase Billund Australia and Billund Chile.
The Norwegian RAS specialist stated that this acquisition is aligned with its mission to "revolutionize the aquaculture industry with advanced, sustainable technologies that promote healthy fish production while reducing environmental impact."
Pure Salmon Technology, which had already hired several former Billund employees in recent years, will hire more as part of the transition and implementation of these intellectual property assets. Moreover, adding Billund's market-leading Fixed Bed technology as well as their other unique and proprietary components and solutions, will give it the broadest technology portfolio in the industry.
"We are excited to welcome the assets of Billund Aquaculture Denmark to Pure Salmon Technology. The acquisition is a strategic move that enhances and strengthens our market leading technology capabilities," said Kent Rasmussen, CEO of Pure Salmon Technology.
Furthermore, the acquisition includes the technical documentation of Billund's entire installed base, which will enable Pure Salmon Technology to service all of the Danish company's previous customers.
By integrating Billund Aquaculture Denmark's IP, Pure Salmon Technology will also be better positioned to serve the growing demand for efficient and scalable RAS systems and meet the evolving needs of its customers worldwide.
"The exclusive rights to purchase Billund Aquaculture Australia and Billund Aquaculture Chile further strengthen our commitment to expanding our presence and impact in the global aquaculture sector," the CEO of Pure Salmon Technology continued.
"Pure Salmon Technology is committed to driving innovation and sustainability in aquaculture, and this deal allows us to combine the strengths of both companies to deliver unparalleled value to our clients," added Pure Salmon Chairman and 8F Asset Management Chairman and Founder, Stephane Farouze. "We look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible in aquaculture technology."
As the company noted in its release, the exclusive rights to purchase Billund Aquaculture Australia and Billund Aquaculture Chile position Pure Salmon Technology to further expand its reach in the Australasian and South American markets, leveraging the local experience and knowledge of companies recognized for excellence in aquaculture engineering and project execution.
This acquisition comes just one month after Billund Aquaculture filed for bankruptcy after failing to raise sufficient capital to continue operations following nearly 40 years in business.
Last week we also learned that Årdal Aqua had selected aquaculture technology company AKVA group to take over and complete the construction of its 6,000-ton post-smolt facility in Årdal, whose original contractor was Billund Aquaculture.
Pure Salmon Technology is a global leader in RAS technology, dedicated to creating sustainable, innovative solutions for the aquaculture industry. Its state-of-the-art technology ensures efficient fish farming with minimal environmental impact, enabling healthy and sustainable fish production.
