The Kangamiut Group A/S has announced its intention to merge its three subsidiaries, Kangamiut Seafood A/S, DanSea Nordic A/S, and Northcoast Seafoods A/S, and operate under the name Kangamiut Seafood A/S.

According to the group, this generational transition aims to meet regulatory and customer demands, adapt to the changing global landscape, and foster future partnerships in the seafood industry.

The new company will continue to operate from Dronninglund (Head Office) and Farum (home office of the current DanSea Nordic), Denmark, and will be led by CEO Rasmus Grønborg Bak.

Additionally, the CEOs of Northcoast Seafoods and DanSea Nordic, Nicholai Karlshøj and Mikael Møller Sørensen, respectively, will continue as Vice Presidents in the new Kangamiut Seafood. Finally, Ulrik Bjerre Rasmussen will continue in his role as CEO of the Kangamiut Group.

"I am convinced that the synergy of products and employees in the new constellation will significantly enhance our opportunity to serve our suppliers, customers, and partners," said Rasmus Grønborg Bak.

Also, Ulrik Bjerre Rasmussen noted: "The merger is part of a long-planned generational transition and serves to ensure that, as a group, we are well-positioned to handle future demands and opportunities in areas such as environmental and social sustainability, governance and IT in a highly professional manner."

An expert in seafood global partnerships

During the Seafood Expo Global 2023 in Barcelona, Kangamiut Seafood announced a strategic partnership with Sri Lankan aquaculture firm Oceanpick.

The two companies joined forces to bring Oceanpick's ocean-reared barramundi to the European market using Kangamiut Seafood's established distribution networks.

The result, Kangamiut Seafood told WeAreAquaculture, is "a world class quality fish that will delight European consumers with its consistent mellow flavours and smooth buttery taste."
