Land-based aquaculture production company Baring Farsund AS has announced the inauguration of its land-based fish farm in Lundevågen, Norway, as a historic milestone for both the Norwegian company and the region.

This is the largest land-based facility for post-smolt and food fish in the southernmost part of Norway, with over 80,000 square meters of built area and an annual production capacity of up to 24,000 tons of salmon.

As reported by Baring Farsund on their LinkedIn profile, the event was attended by the chairman of the board, Jon Erik Reinhardsen, co-founder Roald Reme, the mayor of Farsund, Ingrid Williamsen, and our good partners at Optiras AS.

In June 2024, Optiras secured its first commercial contract with Baring Farsund AS to supply its technology to this plant. Optiras will ensure stable and high water quality throughout the entire production cycle, while reducing energy consumption by over 50% compared to current solutions.

Finally, the main shareholder, Knut N.T. Ugland concluded with a clear vision for the way forward. 'We are proud of what we have created and look forward to contributing to a new era for sustainable farming, right in the heart of Farsund,' the statement reads.
