Icelandic company LAXEY, which already produces market-sized salmon for human consumption, has confirmed the delivery of its first batch of post-smolt to its long-term commercial partner.

Leveraging its production capacity, LAXEY can raise and sell high-quality post-smolt to other aquaculture companies, generating revenue ahead of reaching full harvest volumes.

The transfer was carried out smoothly, thanks to thorough planning and preparation that ensured a safe and efficient delivery, the Icelandic company confirmed through a statement.

Moreover, it announced in April the transfer of its first batch of salmon to grow-out tanks, which marked the completion of the first phase of the land-based salmon farmer's six-phase development plan.

"By supplying robust post-smolt to other producers, LAXEY contributes to improved biological outcomes across the value chain—reducing time in sea-based systems and enhancing predictability and security for farming partners," it reads.

LAXEY is developing its facility in the traditional seafood community of Vestmannaeyjar, an ideal location for this type of delivery, according to the company. A month ago, it announced the successful completion of a €35 million equity private placement and a new long-term financing agreement with Arion Bank to support the continued development of its salmon farming facility.
