Clinical study highlights health benefits of Hofseth BioCare's ProGo®

The international scientific journal Biomedicines has published a new clinical study by Hofseth BioCare ASA ("HBC") on the health benefits of its salmon protein hydrolysate, ProGo®.

The study demonstrates that daily supplementation with Hofseth's solution improves several biological markers associated with healthy ageing and metabolic health in overweight adults.

Specifically, the study found that after 56 days of daily supplementation in 14 overweight adults, the observed benefits were due to the bioactive peptides in ProGo®, rather than to protein intake alone.

"It is important to note that the results were driven by all participants, rather than by just a few exceptional responders," the Norwegian biotechnology company said in its statement.

In more detail, ProGo® outperformed whey protein by improving haemoglobin (+3.8%), red blood cell count (+7.5%), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (+5.7%), and ferritin (+13.4%).

It also led to a 39.1% improvement in a composite self-assessment score for hair, skin, and nail health. In addition, markers related to body composition, inflammation, and glucose metabolism also showed positive improvements.

However, Hofseth cautions that, given the small sample size, these findings should be considered preliminary. Larger, longer-term, and placebo-controlled studies will be needed to confirm these results.

ProGo® bioactive peptides were named the winner in the Healthy Aging category at the 2025 NutraIngredients-USA Awards and were also recognized for their benefits in metabolic health.

Hofseth BioCare's largest shareholder is Norwegian entrepreneur Roger Hofseth, founder of the Hofseth seafood group. In March, he announced that he would step down as CEO to focus on the company's commercial and market development in his new role as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
