Finnforel
Finnish aquaculture firm Finnforel has announced that it will begin selling its land-based, ecologically farmed rainbow trout to supermarkets in the United Arab Emirates under its premium brand, LoHi.
The line of these products is already available in selected LuLu Hypermarket stores in Dubai, one of the largest retail chains in the region. Additionally, Finnforel is announcing upcoming commercial partnerships with selected Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society and Carrefour supermarkets in the coming months.
LoHi offers options in 150g individual fillet portions and 340g double packs, making for quick preparation and optimal nutrition. The name LoHi is a nod to the Finnish word for salmon (lohi).
"Our mission is to change the way fish get on our plates globally. Our model is built on technological innovation and total control of the value chain, from fish eggs to final fillet, ensuring premium quality and sustainability from start to finish," detailed CEO of Finnforel, Nora Hortling.
Additionally, the Group Meat & Fish Manager at Lulu Hypermarket, Gary Backhouse, said: "We're excited to partner with Finnforel to bring this innovative, sustainable fish product to our customers. The premium Nordic quality coupled with convenience, health benefits, and stable pricing aligns perfectly with what our diverse customer base is seeking."
Founded in 2015, Finnforel operates two RAS facilities in Finland with a combined production capacity of 3,000 tons. In mid-July, it sold its entire shareholding in Alltech Fennoaqua to existing co-owner Alltech. This move was to concentrate on its aquaculture business.
