Bakkafrost has announced that it is now 100% ASC -certified across all its salmon farming operations, following the certification of its 31 active sites in Scotland.

Both Bakkafrost Scotland and the wider Bakkafrost Group have been working for years to achieve high standards and responsible aquaculture across all their operations.

The company has made a commitment to transparency and continuous improvement across all its operations, as well as to producing healthy, high-quality Scottish salmon that is raised with care.

"Reaching 100% ASC certification across the Group is a significant milestone. It reflects the hard work of our teams and our commitment to responsible salmon farming and continuous improvement," said Group QESH Director Bakkafrost Anna Johansen.

During the fourth quarter of 2025, the farming operations in Scotland were affected by a Pasteurella outbreak at the Portree farming site, which was subsequently harvested and emptied in October, resulting in elevated mortality and lower average harvest weights for that month.

Regarding this matter, the management confirmed its intention to continue making consistent and significant investments on an ongoing basis, with a sustainable and long-term perspective.

The Faroese company and the Norwegian company SalMar were included in the 2026 'Global 100 Most Sustainable Companies' list by Corporate Knights, which is released each year during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
