The salmon company received 447 applications.
For the sixth consecutive year, AquaChile has launched its Competitive Fund, which aims to support and finance projects of social organizations in the regions where the company operates.
In the 2024 edition, the salmon company received 447 applications and ultimately awarded 46 projects in Araucanía, Los Lagos, Aysén, and Magallanes. This means that more than 7,000 people will benefit directly from this fund.
The jury was composed of Alejandra Cantín, director of the School of Social Work at the Austral University of Chile, Ulises Alarcón, an academic from the Institute of Management and Industry of the same university, and Francisco Sandoval, Community Relations Manager at AquaChile.
Regarding this initiative, Sandoval indicated: "The diversity of the selected initiatives is remarkable, addressing issues of access to drinking water, inclusion in education, support for the elderly, firefighters, health committees, indigenous communities, handicrafts, tourism, women's entrepreneurship, sports, community equipment, and the environment, which reinforces the impact of this project by the number of people, organizations, and topics addressed."
Finally, AquaChile confirmed that the annual implementation of the Competitive Fund reflects the company's commitment to sustainable development and improving the quality of life in local communities.
In mid May, AquaChile launched an online water-quality monitoring system for Lake Riesco with the collaboration of Chile Lagos Limpios Foundation, Innovex, University of California Davis' Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC), and Patagonian Ecosystem Research Center CIEP.
