Innovasea collaborates in the Topian initiative by supplying its fully submersible aquaculture systems to farm and harvest greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili) in the Red Sea as part of the NEOM project in Saudi Arabia.

This initiative promotes the farming of marine species using advanced technology to produce fish efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way. Topian is the part of NEOM responsible for developing sustainable, technology-driven food solutions.

"We are excited to collaborate with Topian to bring the latest aquaculture technology to the region. It's an excellent opportunity to showcase the benefits of precision aquaculture and lay the groundwork for what could become a significant growth area," said Innovasea CEO Mark Jollymore.

In 2025, Innovasea deployed its SeaProtean pens in the region for the first time, allowing operators to move the fish to deeper waters below the thermocline. This prevented heat-related mortalities and helped preserve the natural beauty of the marine environment.

Regarding this, Innovasea's General Manager of Aquaculture Systems, Marc Turano, noted: "The SeaProtean Pen is engineered to support fish in extreme environments, such as the high surface temperatures of the Red Sea. By using fully submersible pens, our clients can now expand aquaculture into regions previously deemed unfeasible."

These pens include environmental sensors that monitor water conditions, AI-powered cameras, and high-definition cameras. In addition, they feature the FlowFeeder™ system to automatically feed fish below the surface. Finally, Realfish Pro by Innovasea collects all this information in real time for further analysis.

"The adoption of this breakthrough technology demonstrates our commitment to leveraging the latest advancements to improve nutrition and ensure sustainability," added Majid Mufti, CEO of the NEOM Investment Fund (NIF).
