The Spanish company Zunibal, specialized in technological solutions focused on sustainable fishing and marine monitoring, has celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Founded in 1995 in Zamudio (Vizcaya), the fishing technology company has focused on innovation to protect the oceans and ensure the economic sustainability of fishing fleets.

One of its pioneering projects was the launch of the first satellite buoy in 1998 for tropical tuna fishing. Since then, it has developed other technological solutions, such as Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), which are certified as biodegradable in marine environments.

Regarding this, Commercial Director, Ángel Martínez, stated: "For three decades, we have demonstrated that true innovation is not just about creating cutting-edge technologies, but about developing them with purpose. At Zunibal, we learn from tradition, respect the ocean, and move forward with the conviction that the way we do things—collaborative, responsible, and honest—is just as important as what we achieve."

Evolving to become a global leader

Just a few months ago, Zunibal acquired Taiwanese company Zong Hong Marine, which specializes in advanced satellite communication services. It established its first headquarters in Asia and strengthened its presence in the region.

"Reaching 30 years reflects the collective effort, determination, and shared commitment of everyone who is part of Zunibal. Our evolution from a local company to a global leader is the result of the team's talent and the trust of our clients and collaborators. Everything we have achieved so far inspires us to keep moving forward, turning challenges into new opportunities and ensuring that our essence, based on proximity, technological excellence, and sustainability, continues to guide the way," expressed CEO and shareholder of Zunibal, Ibone Rodríguez de Pablo.

Moreover, it has incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) into its solutions to improve fishing areas, tuna identification models, trajectory prediction, biomass estimation, and the detection of target species.
