Peder Sollie will lead the new aquaculture section of Advansia. Sollie, who will start at the company on 1 March, was the project manager for Proximar Seafood's plant in Japan. He will lead a professional environment of 25 people.

"I look forward to contributing to strengthening Advansia's cutting-edge expertise in aquaculture and more sustainable development of the industry," said Sollie.

Venturing into aquaculture gradually

Advansia got aquaculture experience by participating in land-based projects such initiated by Salmon Evolution, Senja post-smolt, and Dåfjord post-smolt. Also, it has experience from some of Norway's largest industrial plants promoted by Bama, Nortura, and Tine.

Regarding this, Hans Hagby, area director at Advansia, said: "Modern land-based aquaculture facilities are complex and specialized processing facilities where water, fish, and operator must be able to function in one system. We have spoken to key industry players. and the feedback is that there is a need for more experienced project managers with expertise in managing extensive projects and complex process equipment."

Advansia is part of the engineering company AFRY, the company has explained through a statement published on its website. AFRY has experience from several land-based facilities in Europe, such as Swiss Lachs and Basis 57, and several other facilities from Sweden to Spain.

"Last year we launched a collaboration with AFRY and the Trondheim-based company Morefish. The fact that Advansia is now gathering its professional environment and creating a dedicated section for aquaculture is the next step in our venture." Hagby added.
