The Danish RAS engineering company has brought in three key personnel from its former rival, the now-bankrupt Billund Aquaculture.

Danish RAS specialist Alpha Aqua has announced it has hired three former Billund Aquaculture employees to its team, including appointing Bjarne Hald Olsen as its Chief Sales Officer.

Olsen brings over 17 years of leadership experience at Billund Aquaculture, having held several C-suite positions such as CEO, COO, and most recently Chief Sales Officer, until the company closed due to bankruptcy this summer, after 40 years of business.

The other two new additions to the Alpha Aqua team are Erik Gutzmann and Mark Russell. Gutzmann worked for more than six years at Billund Aquaculture as a Senior Advisor in RAS and later as Department Manager of the Bioteam, while Russell comes with nearly nine years of experience as Grow-Out Supervisor. Both will now take on roles as Aquaculture Biological Architects at Alpha Aqua, where they will help to design and implement advanced recirculating aquaculture systems.

“We are thrilled to welcome three highly experienced professionals from Billund Aquaculture to the Alpha Aqua A/S team,” Alpha Aqua stated in a LinkedIn post announcing the new appointments. “Their extensive expertise will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to drive innovation and sustainability within the aquaculture industry."

"With the addition of Erik, Mark, and Bjarne, we continue to uphold our vision of shaping the future of aquaculture by delivering tailored, cutting-edge RAS solutions that support sustainable practices and empower our customers for long-term success," Alpha Aqua added.

Billund's IP also finds a new home, at Pure Salmon Technology

As Billund's former team members now take on new directions at other companies, so too do the bankrupt aquaculture firm's intellectual assets.

Earlier this month, WeAreAquaculture reported that Norwegian firm Pure Salmon Technology has acquired all Billund Aquaculture's IP assets, in what CEO Kent Rasmussen called "a strategic move that enhances and strengthens our market leading technology capabilities."

Among the assets acquired are Billund's market-leading "Fixed Bed" technology and technical documentation, enabling Pure Salmon Technology to service all of the Danish company's previous customers.
