Sekkingstad Group has announced that Andreas Mikalsen, currently Director of Customer Experience at Aquabyte, will be its next CEO. He will replace Bård Sekkingstad, who has been acting as acting Chief Executive Officer and who, following this organizational change, will assume a more defined role as Chief Executive of Trient AS, the owner company.
The company has not indicated the exact date when Andreas Mikalsen will join his new position. At the momment, he continues to work at Aquabyte, which he joined in March 2022, and where he is responsible for the customer journey and HR. The aquatech company offers an all-in-one solution that allows quantifying fish weight, detecting sea lice infestations, and generating optimal feeding plans, all in real time.
Nevertheless, before taking up that job, Mikelsen already had previous experience in salmon, having worked for more than 10 years at Mowi. His last position there was as Managing Director of Mowi RNT Supply Chain & Trading, as well as being responsible for the company's global sales of whole salmon and fillet.
Operating in Sotra, Hirtshals and Bergen, Sekkingstad Group has been involved in seafood processing, marketing and sales for several generations. Mikalsen, who holds a degree in economics and CEMS MIM from NHH Bergen, will also bring to the company his experience in leading commercial positions at Lidl, both in Germany and Ireland.
"I am very pleased that Andreas is starting with us. He has a solid and relevant experience with proven leadership skills. Andreas will be a solid reinforcement of the Sekkingstad Group, and an important contributor to the realization of our plans," said Bård Sekkingstad in welcoming his replacement. Sekkingstad was working as acting CEO after Even Hopland left the position to become Director of Business Development at Viking Aqua.
Founded in 1923, Sekkingstad is a family-owned company with a long history and strong roots in the production, sales, and marketing of seafood products, especially high-quality Norwegian salmon and trout.
Since the late 1990s, the company moved away from production and focused on salmon processing and marketing, where today it is one of the world's leading independent companies. Thanks to the strategic locations of its factories, they reach all markets worldwide within 3 days.
