Leading Argentinian seafood company Estremar has announced the appointment of Marcos Osuna as its new CEO, taking over from Alan Mackern who now steps down after ten years at the helm, and transitions to a role on the board of directors.

Osuna, a seasoned seafood executive who has worked for the Spanish seafood group Nueva Pescanova (NP) for over 25 years, has extensive experience in Argentina and Latin America.

Most recently, since 2020 he was NP's Corporate Category Head for Argentinian shrimp and wild crustaceans, described as the second-largest category within the Group.

Prior to this, Osuna was CEO of the Spanish group's Argentinian subsidiary, the fishing company Argenova, a role which included overseeing operations in Peru and Uruguay, generating revenue of more than 130 million euros, and employing more than 600 people, with a fleet of 18 vessels.

He was also previously Managing Director of Pesca Chile, and held senior management roles in Lafonia Sea Foods and Acuinova, farming mediterranean seabass and seabream.

In a LinkedIn post entitled "Back in business", Osuna said he was "thrilled" to take on the role of CEO in Estremar, "starting a new professional stage after 25+ years in Grupo Nueva Pescanova".

He added he felt "honoured to be given this opportunity, happy to be back in such a lovely country as Argentina and eager to work with #TeamEstremar to make the company better and bigger".
