Grieg Seafood announced the appointment of Magnus Johannesen as the new Global Finance Officer, effective October 1, 2024.  "We are confident that Magnus's leadership and expertise will significantly benefit Grieg Seafood as we continue to strengthen our financial strategies and pursue growth," said the company in the announcement made on its LinkedIn page.

According to information shared by the company, in his new role, Johannesen will set direction and strategy, ensuring alignment with its business objectives while building a high-performance team focused on performance management and talent development.

The new Global Finance Officer will also support various areas of the business with forecasting, analysis, and performance data, ensuring the highest quality in our budgeting processes.

Currently, Magnus Johannesen is the Group Chief Investment Officer at Frydenbø Group AS, where he is responsible for overseeing capital efficiency, M&A processes, and strategic initiatives in various divisions.

Previously, he served as General Manager for Frydenfalch, a joint venture focused on industrial real estate investment whose combined portfolios were approximately NOK 5 billion (EUR 422.8 million / USD 461.6 million) in assets under management. Johannesen was also Interim Chief Financial Officer at Rexir Holding AS. There he managed the real estate portfolio and led the asset allocation during a critical strategic phase.

Moreover, he also brings extensive experience as a specialist consultant and external advisor at McKinsey & Company, where he guided financial institutions in internal audits and risk management on a global scale.

"I am confident that Magnus's extensive experience and leadership will drive continued growth and excellence within our organization. His insights and strategic approach will be invaluable as we navigate future opportunities in the seafood industry," stated Atle Harald Sandtorv, CFO of Grieg Seafood, commenting on the appointment.

As mentioned above, in this "crucial role" - as the salmon company defines it in the announcement - Magnus Johannesen will further develop Grieg's finance group and support the CFO in making financial and commercial decisions.

"I am eager to join the Grieg Seafood team and contribute to shaping one of Norway's most important future industries," said Johannesen. "I look forward to getting to know and collaborating with the talented team and participating in exciting projects ahead. Grieg Seafood's values resonate strongly with my own, and it is gratifying to join a company that is a leader in sustainable aquaculture."
