Olav Holst-Dyrnes has formally taken up his role as CEO of Norwegian seafood group Hofseth International, having started in the position on 3 August.

His appointment was announced in March, when Hofseth founder Roger Hofseth said he would step aside as CEO to become chief commercial officer, focusing on the group's commercial activities and market development.

Holst-Dyrnes joins the company after holding senior positions at several major seafood and industrial players, including at Havfisk, Ekornes, and as investment director at the investment company Kverva. He was previously CEO of seafood group Insula and until July served as chair of Insula’s board, and is currently chair of the Norwegian Seafood Council's Board of Directors.

Commenting after starting in his new role, Holst-Dyrnes said he saw further potential for Hofseth’s development.

“Hofseth has grown into a strong company. I hope to contribute by building on the company's structure and continuing to unlock the great potential within Hofseth. I look forward to being part of that journey,” he said.

"In my first week I already met many in our Hofseth team visiting several of the sites. I look forward to meeting more of my new colleagues this week and to connect with Hofseth’s partner in Norway and abroad," he wrote in a LinkedIn post.

"His extensive leadership experience from both the seafood and industrial sectors will be key as he leads the continued development of the Hofseth Group, building on our company's integrated seafood value chain," Hofseth said.

The company recently announced it has started building its first full-scale closed containment units, as well as launching a new submersible farming facility to test whether deeper farming can reduce sea lice pressure in salmon production.

Most recently, Hofseth signed an agreement with Trident Aqua Services for the delivery and operation of two new battery-hybrid service vessels intended to strengthen low-emission and biosecurity in its aquaculture operations.
