Proximar Seafood has announced the hiring of Yoshihito Ito as the new Managing Director of Proximar Ltd. Since 2010 he has been the General Manager of Skretting Japan, and since 2021 the General Manager of Nutreco Japan.

Regarding this announcement, Proximar CEO, Joachim Nielsen, expressed: "Ito brings in-depth aquaculture know-how as well as extensive international and Japanese management experience to the company. Furthermore, his long-term experience in operations and production will be important for Proximar in the ongoing transition from a project company to a production company."

Before Skretting, the new Managing Director worked for Nippon Roche K.K. and was a member of the global aquaculture expert team in the Roche Group.

Setbacks

The Norwegian land-based salmon producer in Japan had to lower its harvest forecast by 5% due to a breach in the support for a biofilter in one of its modules a couple of weeks ago.

During its Q3 2024 results presentation, Proximar indicated that it remained confident of its combined 2024/2025 harvest target of 4,700 tons and its goal of reaching a full production capacity of 5,300 tons in 2027.

The company, which operates Japan's first large-scale salmon farm at Oyama, at the foot of Mount Fuji launched its first commercial Atlantic salmon harvest in late September.
