Danish supplier and distributor of frozen fish and seafood Kangamiut Seafood welcomes Rasmus Grønborg Bak as its new CEO. As WeAreAquaculture reported in February, he starts in the position today, August 1, 2024. With a strong track record as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, he has, however, no previous experience in the seafood industry

Nevertheless, as the company highlights in the announcement of his appointment, his educational and professional background is related to another scarce natural resource, forests, and wood. "He transfers to Kangamiut Seafood from a CEO position in DSHwood – an industry with a range of parallels to the seafood industry," says the release.

In today's release, the Danish company, with origins in Greenland, uses humor to highlight Grønborg Bak's commitment to his new position and his immersion in the seafood industry. "As seen in this picture, Rasmus has already fully embraced his transition to the seafood business, which is reflected in his choice of outfit for his first day with Kangamiut Seafood."

"We could think of no one more suitable to lift the role of CEO"

Rasmus Grønborg Bak has more than 20 years of leadership experience, of which over 10 have been in an international working environment in countries such as China, India, Vietnam, Sweden, England, France, or Germany, with export, trading, development, and growth, direct management responsibility, and been chairman of the board.

"My philosophy of work is to combine a strong execution with an accessible strategic roadmap executed with all Team members to ensure commitment throughout the organization," he describes himself on his LinkedIn profile. "I am driven by growth and business development however I never loose neither the customer nor profitability in the process."

A philosophy and work methodology that seems to fit perfectly with that of his new employer. Kangamiut Group is a family-owned company that bases its business model on partnerships. Its companies are typically co-owned with local management, each operating independently and enjoying synergies across the group, as well as adopting the original family values of responsibility, reliability, and respect.

As mentioned, the company is already very familiar with Grønborg Bak as he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Kangamiut Green Land - the group company focused on specific 'green' initiatives - since 2021, and of the Kangamiut Group - the parent company - since 2023.

"Thanks to Rasmus' valuable contributions to the board, his strong track record within trading and strategic management, as well as his winning personality, we could think of no one more suitable to lift the role of CEO in Kangamiut Seafood," claims the announcement of the appointment.
