Finnish sustainable fish farmer Finnforel Oy has appointed Nora Hortling as its new CEO. She previously worked in the retail and food service sector and chairs the board of the brewery company Olvi plc.

Regarding this announcement, Finnforel's founder said: "Our entire Finnforel team warmly welcomes Nora to lead our rapidly growing business operations. In 2024, we brought the world’s first full-scale Finnforel gigafactory to full production in Varkaus, Finland. Now, the entire Finnforel group is transitioning to the next growth phase. We are confident that Nora’s knowledge and energy will accelerate the fast international scale-up of our concept."

Additionally, Hortling expressed: "Finnforel’s unique concept of an end-to-end value chain is changing the way we grow our food and think about sustainable food production. I seek to strengthen the team with my expertise and I am looking forward to working together with Finnforel’s skilled team, customers, and partners."

In November 2024, Finnforel signed an agreement with ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, to develop a state-of-the-art land-based fish farming facility close to Abu Dhabi.
