YoungFish, a professional network for young people in the Norwegian seafood industry, has announced it has a new manager, Mads Aarvik.

Originally from Måløy in Vestland county, Aarvik is a senior consultant in strategy and sustainability in PwC Norway, based in Bergen, focusing on the seafood industry.

He was chosen by election at a network meeting held earlier this week, taking over from previous head, Hanna Bakke-Jensen, an advisor at Norwegian Fishermen's Association Norges Fiskarlag, who stepped down after five years at the helm.

The YoungFish network, which has been in operation for over 10 years, now has over 3000 members and local branches throughout Norway, in Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim, Tromsø, Stavanger, Ålesund and Helgeland.

In a LinkedIn post announcing his election, Aarvik thanked the YoungFish membership for their trust, adding "I look forward to working with the rest of the central board and facilitating that all the local branches can create good meeting arenas for young people in the seafood industry along the entire coast of Norway."

Announcing the appointment in Facebook, YoungFish noted that Aarvik also previously led YoungFish West, and has a good understanding of the organization's strengths and challenges.

He brings extensive experience in both Norwegian and the international seafood industry, having held previous roles at Domstein Sjømat, New England Seafood and several other industry players, YoungFish said.
