Litus Akva, a Norwegian aquaculture technology firm which supplies innovative systems, design, and engineering services for land-based aquaculture facilities, announced yesterday the appointment of Jan-Ove Hovdenak as its new COO.

In a post published on its LinkedIn page, the aquatech company explained that its new Chief Operating Officer has already taken up his new position, dedicating the first week to familiarizing himself with the projects, clients and everything that happens in the company.

Regarding his career, Litus Akva said that, throughout it, Hovdenak has worked on everything from equipment for the shipbuilding industry and international sales to the design and delivery of solutions for the aquaculture sector.

In recent years, he has held key roles involving both RAS facilities, flow-through systems, and technical deliveries to the fish farming industry, just the speciality of his new company, where, as COO, he will have responsibility for the process, design, and execution of projects.

As an anecdote, the aquaculture technology firm also recounted that, after more than 30 years dedicated to technical sales, project delivery, and leadership roles within industry, maritime solutions, and aquaculture, Jan-Ove Hovdenak "was not really planning to change jobs."

However, according to the company, it was the combination of exciting projects, great ambitions, and people he already knew and greatly respected that made it difficult to say no to Litus Akva's proposal to become its new Chief Operating Officer.

"With experience spanning industry, maritime deliveries, and aquaculture, Jan-Ove brings expertise that will strengthen both our projects and our team in the years ahead," the company wrote, highlighting what its new hire brings to the table.

"There is a lot happening at Litus, and it's a journey I want to be part of. At the same time, I get to work with an industry I know well, exciting projects, and, not least, many highly skilled people," Jan-Ove Hovdenak said, for his part.

Founded by fish farmers in 2020 and based in Straume, Vestland, as mentioned above, Litus Akva designs and delivers solutions for land-based aquaculture–flow-through, reuse and RAS–with a focus on operation, fish welfare and feasibility.

Since February 2025, the company has been included in the portfolio of Blue Future Holding, a seafood investment company owned by Germany's EW Group, which, on that date and after an investment of EUR 4.3 million, became the majority owner of the land-based aquaculture supplier.
