Norwegian cod producer Ode appoints new Sales Manager

Marta Negrete

Norway's cod producer Ode announced today the appointment of Tone Hellesvik as its Sales Manager. With more than 30 years of experience in the seafood industry, she is an expert in the sale and marketing of white fish.

The senior executive joins Ode from a previous position as Sales Director at Nordic Group. Previously she had served as Sales Director at companies such as Domstein and Terra Seafood.

"We are delighted to have Tone join our team," Ode's CEO, Ola Kvalheim, said about the company's newest addition. "Her extensive experience in the seafood industry and her understanding and knowledge of several of our key markets will be invaluable to Ode. We are confident that she will help strengthen our position as a leading supplier of farmed cod."

According to the company's announcement of the appointment, as Sales Manager Hellesvik will be responsible for further developing Ode's farmed cod sales for the North American and Nordic markets.

In addition, the Norwegian cod producer has said that she will also be the category manager for frozen products and will act as a key liaison between the logistics and sales departments, focusing on analysis, optimization, planning, and transportation.

"I have been eagerly looking forward to becoming a part of the Ode team. Cod farming is an exciting industry with great growth potential, and I am motivated to help develop new markets for our products," Tone Hellesvik commented on her appointment.

"Ode is a leader in sustainable cod farming, and I look forward to ensuring our customers have access to high-quality products year-round," she added.

Always with the company's growth plan in mind, earlier this year we learned of other appointments at Ode such as Thor Arne Hangstad, with long experience in the industry and knowledge of cod fry production, as Head of Juveniles, or Kenneth Schaug-Pettersen, with no previous experience in the seafood sector, as CFO.

A year ago, that growth plan was backed up with the award of a new site, adding volume and flexibility to Ode's production capacity, which since then has six marine farms and an annual production capacity of more than 25,000 tons. In addition, in February, the company took the final step towards a fully integrated value chain for cod farming after acquiring the Vartdal processing plant, previously owned by Måsøval.
