Asbjørn Warvik Rørtveit, who has held various positions at the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), has been appointed as the new CEO of NOFI. This Norwegian company offers products and services to industries such as fishing, aquaculture, and maritime transportation.
In April 2025, Asbjørn assumed the position of Head of the Middle East at NSC after completing his 5-year term as seafood envoy to Southeast Asia. He also led the integration of the seafood industry into the government's "All of Norway Exports" initiative.
"I had recently accepted a new assignment with responsibility for the Seafood Council's efforts in the Middle East, when plans changed. I was challenged by the family business to take over as CEO of NOFI – the company where I started my professional career as a 10-year-old," he indicated.
The plan is for Asbjørn to assume the position on September 1. He will take over from his brother, Torgrim Rørtveit, who has led NOFI since 2001. Torgrim will then take on the role of Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Regarding his departure, Asbjørn expressed: "It has been a great privilege to work together with the seafood industry to promote the fantastic Norwegian seafood to the whole world. I have a strong belief that Norwegian seafood will continue to grow and become even more important for Norway as a nation."
Finally, NSC Director of Global Operations, Børge Grønbech, assured: "When Asbjørn now takes the step forward to work on the supplier side, I am sure that the seafood industry will also benefit from his professional expertise. We wish Asbjørn the best of luck in his new job at NOFI."
