Norwegian aquaculture service vessel operator Intership / Aquaship now has a new captain at its helm, as Ole Peter Brandal takes over as CEO from Sverre Taknes.

The company, which is the result of a merger between wellboat company Intership and maritime vessel firm Aquaship in December 2023, maintains a fleet of 39 vessels and nearly 700 employees, operating in key aquaculture industry regions such as Chile, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and Norway.

Taknes initially became CEO of the newly-merged entity, but will now step down to make way for Brandal, and transition to a new role serving on the company's board of directors.

“Since founding AquaShip in 2005, I have had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional team to build a company that stands at the forefront of our industry," Taknes said in a press statement.

"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have led AquaShip and now, as I transition to the Board of Directors, I am excited to continue shaping the strategic direction of AquaShip / Intership and support Ole Peter, who I have worked together with to merge the two companies since this past December," he added.

Brandal also expressed his appreciation for Taknes, saying he had been "instrumental in building a solid foundation for our company."

"I am grateful for the opportunity to lead AquaShip / Intership and building on our successes. Together with our talented team, we will strive to exceed the expectations of our customers and stakeholders, and importantly, for our employees," Brandal added.
