This is Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food's largest budget allocated to date.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food in Spain has announced aid worth €21.4 million to finance the production and marketing plans of fishing agents in 2025.

Fishermen's producer organizations (OPPs) and their associations use plans to coordinate their activities, improve resource management, and strengthen their position in the market.

In addition, these plans focus on achieving more sustainable and efficient fishing practices, ensuring that these organizations comply with the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and the Common Market Organization (CMO).

"This call represents a milestone, as it has the largest budget allocated to date, reinforcing the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food's commitment to a more innovative, sustainable, and competitive fishing model," reads a statement.

The call has two annual allocations: €8,361,399.09 for 2025 and €13,045,000 for 2026. It is expected that around €8.36 million will be granted as an advance to improve the liquidity of the organizations without the need for them to provide collateral.

The initiatives of the OPPs, also supported by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF), range from improving sustainability, combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, enhancing energy efficiency, to the decarbonization of the industry.
