biomega has announced the appointment of Chris Fredrik Simmenes as factory manager for the company's flagship biorefinery in Skaganeset, Norway. Simmenes joins the company after working at Mesterbakeren – one of Norway's leading bakery chains – for more than 10 years.

Chris Fredrik Simmenes – Biomega

Firstly, he began his career as a shift manager. Later, he became an expedition leader and was responsible for over 60 employees at the company. Also, he was an instrumental part of the bakery manufacturer's HACCP team, overseeing food production, and HSE work, alongside planning and processing operations.

Regarding this, CEO Biomega, Stig Petersen, said: "It's with great pleasure that we welcome Chris to our team. With a background in teaching and experience in logistics management, Chris is a superb mentor. He is already becoming a vital part of our team here in Norway."

Finally, Petersen added that he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Skaganeset biorefinery. "His wealth of experience in dealing with regulatory requirements from Mesterbakeren will swiftly become an asset to us as we focus on improving our circular approach to upcycling salmon rest streams," he concluded.

On the other hand, Simmenes expressed his excitement for the new challenges ."The company is continuously working towards its sustainability goals as a responsible manufacturer, therefore the decisions we make must be for the future of our planet, and I look forward to taking our operations to the next level."

In late March, Biomega did another signing; Renate de Cartier joined its growing team as the new head of accounting.

Biomega plans

biomega still focuses on investing in its pioneering and patented technology process, enzymatic hydrolysis, which delivers 24/7 year-round production of salmon peptides, proteins, and oils for the pet food and human nutrition markets.

Alongside its Norwegian facility, the company plans to add a second biorefinery in Denmark. So, it will expand its manufacturing capabilities. Located at the Port of Hirtshals, the new biorefinery is expected to open this summer.
