Eco Aquafarm, a subsidiary of Engineering & Construction, has confirmed the successful transfer of the second batch of Atlantic salmon to RAS1 at South Korea's first land-based salmon farm.

In addition, the Norwegian company has confirmed that the Atlantic salmon from Batch 1, which were transferred to RAS1 in February, as well as those from Batch 0, which were moved to RAS2 last month, are growing in a "very healthy" manner.

"In this new environment of a closed-loop recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), we are excited to see the growth and potential these young salmon will show in the future," a statement says.

The plant is operated by Eco Aquafarm, an expert on sustainable aquaculture, and its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology has been provided by AKVA Group.

It has a capacity of 500 metric tons of Atlantic salmon per year, and the first salmon eggs were stocked in the autumn of 2024. Harvest is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, after two years of cultivation. During the second phase, Eco Aquafarm will increase production tenfold and invite global investors to participate.
