A new industry partnership aims to bring circular economy principles to aquaculture, as SurplusHub International, the company behind the Surplushub.com B2B platform for surplus industrial equipment, joins forces with AKVA group.

SurplusHub is making its first entry into the aquaculture sector through the collaboration, which will see it provide Norwegian aquaculture technology supplier AKVA Group with a customized digital solution to manage and resell its surplus aquaculture equipment. The B2B platform is already established in the offshore energy and maritime sectors, the company said.

Announcing the partnership, SurplusHub said its solution will support cost savings, improve resource efficiency, and enhance sustainability practices.

“We are proud to welcome AKVA group as our first partner in aquaculture. This is an important milestone in our strategy to make SurplusHub available to new industries where circular economy and sustainability are key drivers,” said Per Kåre Liland, CEO of SurplusHub International AS.

"Aquaculture holds significant potential for smarter resource management, and we look forward to contributing with technology that supports this development,” he added.

“Sustainability and resource optimization are key focus areas for AKVA group. By partnering with SurplusHub, we gain access to a specialized marketplace that allows us to extend the lifecycle of equipment and reduce unnecessary waste. This is an important step towards a more circular and responsible aquaculture industry,” said Erlend Gundersen Røed, Global Supply Chain Director at AKVA group.
